I couldn't bring myself to throw out some of our stale home made bread, so I made croutons.
*Cut the bread into small cubes.
*Place in bread and coat with olive oil, salt, pepper, and whatever seasonings you like
*Cook at 400 degrees for 10 minutes
These were absolutely delicious, and probably the cheapest/healthiest croutons you can find.
Enjoy!
Do you have a bread machine? I use my bread machine several times a week to make dough and bake the bread in the oven, it is wonderful.
ReplyDeleteOkay, so I read other posts and saw you do not have a bread machine. I would highly suggest investing in one to make your dough. I have heard that thrift stores are loaded with bread machines. Before I heard that, I bought mine at Wal Mart with saved up gift cards for $50. The dough cycle takes 1 1/2 hours. Then you take the dough out and form it into rolls, pizza crust or a loaf. Let is raise up to 30 minutes and then bake it. It saves me a lot of time I do not have to be in the kitchen. I have not used any mixes, but I have some great recipes. I would like to next invest in a wheat grinder. Our church sells whole wheat kernels that you can grind into free whole wheat flour that has maximum nutrition.
ReplyDeleteA bread machine would be great. Lindsey bakes (by hand) at least 2 loaves of bread each week. We freeze one and use the other. I'm sure she would love something to make that task easier...
