Stale Bread

I couldn't bring myself to throw out some of our stale home made bread, so I made croutons.

*Cut the bread into small cubes.

*Place in bread and coat with olive oil, salt, pepper, and whatever seasonings you like

*Cook at 400 degrees for 10 minutes

These were absolutely delicious, and probably the cheapest/healthiest croutons you can find.

Enjoy!

  1. Do you have a bread machine? I use my bread machine several times a week to make dough and bake the bread in the oven, it is wonderful.

  2. Okay, so I read other posts and saw you do not have a bread machine. I would highly suggest investing in one to make your dough. I have heard that thrift stores are loaded with bread machines. Before I heard that, I bought mine at Wal Mart with saved up gift cards for $50. The dough cycle takes 1 1/2 hours. Then you take the dough out and form it into rolls, pizza crust or a loaf. Let is raise up to 30 minutes and then bake it. It saves me a lot of time I do not have to be in the kitchen. I have not used any mixes, but I have some great recipes. I would like to next invest in a wheat grinder. Our church sells whole wheat kernels that you can grind into free whole wheat flour that has maximum nutrition.

  3. A bread machine would be great. Lindsey bakes (by hand) at least 2 loaves of bread each week. We freeze one and use the other. I'm sure she would love something to make that task easier...
